About PRIME Marine

Vessel management software built for mariners

PRIME Marine is vessel management software for ship owners, ship managers and fleet operators. One database runs maintenance, procurement, safety and quality, crewing and vessel performance together, across more than 1,800 vessels today.

Our story

We started with a problem we had lived

Superintendents were spending more of the week reconciling spreadsheets than managing vessels.

Maintenance sat in one system, purchasing in another, safety in a third and crewing in a fourth, and none of them shared a record. The same job was entered several times over, and by the time shore had a clear picture of a vessel, it was already out of date.

PRIME Marine vessel management software was released in 2018 to close that gap. We designed it alongside the people who would use it — superintendents, masters, engineers and purchasing teams — so each workflow follows a real shipboard process rather than an abstract database schema. Much of this category still runs on codebases first written in the 1990s; we built web-first from day one, with no desktop client to migrate away from.

One database is the decision everything else follows from. A defect raised onboard creates a maintenance job, draws down inventory, raises a purchase requisition and updates the vessel’s compliance record, without anyone entering it twice.

How we build

Three principles behind the product

Every decision in PRIME Marine vessel management software comes back to these three.

Built around shipboard reality

Vessels lose connectivity, bandwidth is metered and crews change. Shipboard installations run offline-capable and sync through delta replication, sending only changed records.

What we build

More than 18 connected modules on a single database

PRIME Marine vessel management software groups its modules into five areas of fleet operation. The full set is documented on the vessel management software page.

Who we serve

The people who use PRIME Marine every day

Vessel management software is only as good as the day-to-day work it carries. These are the roles it is built around.

Fleets served

Commercial, offshore, port and specialised fleets

PRIME Marine suits owner-operators and third-party managers running mixed fleets, where a single-vessel-type product forces compromise. Open a sector to see the asset types covered.

Regulatory coverage

The frameworks our customers are measured against

PRIME Marine vessel management software supports compliance workflows for the ISM Code, the ISPS Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, MLC 2006 and the IMO Carbon Intensity Indicator.

CII, EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime reporting run inside the Vessel Performance module, which turns noon reports and bunker data into rating calculations without a separate emissions tool. ISM documentation, non-conformity tracking and corrective action close-out run through the Quality & Safety Management suite, and statutory and class certificate expiry is tracked in Certificates, with alerts to shore and vessel. The Maintenance module holds class approval from Bureau Veritas.

How we work with fleets

From first conversation to fleet rollout

Implementation, configuration, training and ongoing support come from a dedicated projects team. Historical data is extracted, cleansed, validated and imported, so maintenance history, crew records and inventory balances carry forward rather than restarting at zero.

  1. 01Fleet data audit

What exists today, in which systems, and in what condition.

  2. 02Module configuration

Modules, vessel classes, maintenance plans and permissions set up for your fleet.

  3. 03Data migration

Legacy records, spreadsheets and paper extracted, cleansed, validated and imported.

  4. 04Training

Superintendent, shore and crew training on the workflows each role uses.

  5. 05Pilot vessel go-live

One vessel live first, so the configuration is proven before rollout.

  6. 06Fleet rollout

Remaining vessels brought on, with support across time zones.

Deployment

Cloud-hosted, on your own on-premises infrastructure, or a hybrid of both. Cloud adoption is not a condition of purchase.

PRIME Marine integrates with accounting and ERP systems, class society databases, noon-reporting and weather-routing providers, and e-procurement marketplaces through a documented REST API.

Security

  • ISO/IEC 27001-aligned infrastructure, data encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Role-based permissions: each role sees only the records it needs
  • Single sign-on supported, multi-factor authentication enforced
  • Independent penetration testing on a recurring schedule
  • Built around the cyber risk requirements of IMO Resolution MSC.428(98)

Where we are

Representative offices in 17 countries

Our footprint puts support staff inside the working hours of the major ship management hubs: Singapore, Piraeus, Hamburg, Dubai and Oslo.

Post-implementation support is delivered across time zones, so a vessel raising an issue mid-voyage reaches a working support desk.

Our commitment to the sea

Decarbonisation starts with measurement

CII, EU ETS and fuel-consumption analytics turn noon reports and bunker data into the numbers a decarbonisation plan is built on, alongside fleet-level analytics and KPIs. Alongside the software, our team supports initiatives that protect marine life and promote responsible operating practice, and writes about fleet operations in the Insight Hub.
